Breaking Away

Since we’ve lived in London, Kevin has had few opportunities to bike, given the poor sidewalks and hilly neighbourhood. Despite that, this week he decided he was too old for training wheels and asked us to take them off.  We headed to a nearby dirt road with a gentle slope. He got the hang of it quickly. He was all smiles and giggles!!


Leeds Castle

With less than 8 weeks left on our awesome London adventure, we are trying hard to pack in as much as possible before our departure. It was a long week, Dave was sick and Heather travelled to Munich. Needless to say, neither of us were excited about a day trip on Saturday morning of Father’s Day weekend. We rallied and packed the kids in the rental car and did our best to navigate through central London to get to the south bank and then to the green fields of Kent. There is no sun in London. Ever. Okay, well, once in a while the sun comes out, but it is rare. So, us sun-loving LeRoys headed to Portugal for Kevin’s term break from school. On the way to the airport, we saw signs “Diamond Jubilee Celebration; stay clear of central London.” We were certainly doing that! I suppose it is unfortunate that we missed the big deal.
