Endurance vacation

If there is one thing our family is not short of, it’s endurance. Mom and Dad enjoy doing endurance races and the boys are showing signs of inheriting the genes.

Last week, Heather ran the Vancouver Washington marathon.  The entire family came up to cheer her on including Heather’s Mom and Dad. Despite less than ideal preparation, she had a great day and even had a smile on her face at the end of the race.  She finished in 4 hours and 13 minutes, just a few minutes shy of her personal best. Here are a few pictures from the race:

The day before the marathon the race organizers held a kids “fun run”.  Ryan was very excited to run it all by himself and Kevin was ready to run fast, fresh after doing his first triathlon a few weeks earlier. Here are a few pictures from their race:

The remainder of the trip was filled with adventures to Fort Vancouver, the Nike employee store, the Rose Gardens, Washington Park Zoo, Portland fountains, Voodoo Doughnuts and Powell’s book store.

Here are  a few additional photos from our fun trip to Portland OR and Vancouver WA:
