Home Construction Week 37

It just keeps getting better!  The garage doors are in and we are taking opinions on what color they should be painted.  I think they should be body color, Dave thinks they should be a dark color and our contractor thinks they should be trim color.  A tie-breaker opinion anyone?

We have 3 garage doors (there is a 3rd small one on the side where we can get in and out with bikes and tools, etc.) all armed with “MyQ” technology.  This will allow Dave to go to sleep at night without wondering whether the door is open, getting up to check, seeing the door is closed, and then getting grumpy.  It will also allow us to check the status and open/close the door when we aren’t home.

The cabinets are in, the cabinets are in!  Every cabinet is in and they are beautiful.  I can’t find a single scratch (they were all painted and finished at the cabinet shop prior to installation).  I picked out a bazillion knobs off TopKnobs and Restoration Hardware and can hardly wait for them to be installed.

All the floor tile is installed, but no grout (our tile setter is a firm believer in doing grout the day before we move in because it gets too dirty).  A magnificent Shaw’s single sink is installed in the kitchen island.  We have a groovy appliance garage for our toaster and and bread tin drawer just below it.

Sinks come Monday.  The granite template guy comes on Tuesday.  Electrician will be there all week installing light fixtures and getting outlets done and covered.

Schedule and costs:  Same as last week.  All good there.

Mood:  It almost feels like we can move in!  It’s all very, very exciting!
