Year end road trip

Over the Christmas/New Years holidays we didn’t have any big travel plans. We had hoped to go ski but mother nature decided not to cooperate on delivering snow. The boys were getting restless after a week off school so Heather and I decided on the spur of the moment to take a road trip over New Years Day. Heather, YOU are an Ironman!!!

That’s what they said when I crossed the finish line. I did it! I really did! I’m happy to say that I finished a full Ironman in 13 hours, 38 minutes, and 51 seconds. Demon Be Gone!

This weekend was the 26th annual Wildflower Triathlon festival at Lake San Antonio, CA. Wildflower has three different events – a long course (Half Ironman distance), an Olympic distance, and a mountain bike Sprint race. I’ve done various events at Wildflower 6 different years. I attempted the long course distance in 2000, but failed to finish. I made it halfway through the run before falling apart from dehydration. Therefore, I had a pretty bad attitude about Wildflower.
