These 3 pictures pretty much summarize Kevin’s 3rd birthday party. Two weeks ago, we invited a small group of friends over to celebrate Kevin’s birthday. The big surprise was a clown riding a unicycle up the street. The kids were amazed!!! The video clip below captures the highlights from the party and especially the reaction of the kids to the mystery clown guy riding up our street!  Kevin and his friends had an excellent time.

Kevin and Dad took a boys trip to Big Basin Redwoods State Park this weekend. For the entire car ride to Big Basin, about 45 minutes from our house, Kevin asked “where are the big red trees?”  I think he was hoping for fire engine red.

We made a brief stop on the way to take in the view of the Santa Cruz mountains and fog hanging over the valley.

Once we got to the park, the first order of business was to find a place to sit and eat our bagels. We found a big amphitheatre made of fallen redwoods and enjoyed our snacks.

Next, we took a 1/2 mile hike on the Redwood trail. Kevin ran most of the way. When he did stop, he took the opportunity to pose with some really big trees!

Toward the end of the loop, we found a fallen tree and took a break.

Once we were done with the hike, Kevin was hungry again and while snacking on the fence he saw some motorcycles….so our trip ended with 10 minutes of motorcycle gawking

While we were at it, we decided to try and reproduce one of Heather’s favorite pictures of Kevin when he was 7 months old. It’s not a perfect reproduction, but it is amazing how much he’s changed in just 2 years!
