Ironman Lake Tahoe

It’s been 8 years since I last did Ironman. Back then I was a single guy and priorities were just a little different.  This year, Ironman Lake Tahoe was a “team LeRoy” effort (pictured below). It was an epic day, surrounded by beautiful scenery, extreme temperatures and high altitude. Racing in the UK

This past weekend I raced in my first triathlon since our move to England.  The race was held at the Eton Rowing Club grounds which will host the 2012 Olympic Rowing events. I went to the race without the family. Heather was busy preparing for a weeklong business trip and we decided it would be difficult to make a family day trip out of this race outing.  When I arrived, I immediately noticed the wind.  You can see in the video clip below that it presented a bit of a challenge for the day. We took our first big trip as a family of 4 to visit my parents in Pennsylvania in May. This was Kevin’s 3rd trip to PA. He is such an experienced air traveler that he was qualified to fly the plane (don’t tell TSA!).  We asked the flight attendant if Kevin could see the cockpit in Chicago before we took off and the next thing we knew the co-pilot offered his seat to Kevin!  Ryan was a great traveler on his first flight.
